IT Organizational Transformation (ITOT) Methodology
A Process for Reinventing & Redeploying IT
ITOT Methodology Overview
People inside and outside of your enterprise are hyperlinked
via the Intranet and Internet, but IT is packed into tidy little boxes. As a
result, business units are sidestepping IT to manage information-related tasks
on their own. For now, IT retains a semblance of control over these activities.
This will change as business units continue to shun what they believe is a back
office data processing function that has never responded quickly enough to their
requests. Management hierarchies are breaking down just as IT functions are
being taken over by non-IT business units and vendors. If IT is to adapt to
these new dynamics, they must spearhead efforts to redeploy information
management across the enterprise. The ITOT Methodology has been designed to
support your efforts in achieving this goal.
ITOT Methodology Goals
The ITOT Methodology provides a blueprint for assessing and
redesigning IT along with a strategy for making the shift to this new
organization. This methodology will help you:
- Understand how to determine if your IT organization needs to be reinvented
- Document your existing information management functions across and beyond
the enterprise
- Introduce new governance structures for IT, including the use of a formal
IT constitution
- Learn how to redesign IT into a more collaborative and adaptive
infrastructure
- Deploy IT organizational redesign techniques within your organization
- Understand and deploy the transition process for moving from today's IT
organization to the new, redesigned IT infrastructure
- Measure the value of this process
